In the midst of the misty mountains, one can embrace the divine trees, appreciate the largest cluster of Yaezakura cherry blossoms in Taiwan, which is a single tree with snow-white blossoms, and take in the breathtaking view of the Snow Mountain range's "Holy Ridge" from a high vantage point, and possibly even encounter a national treasure. This is the Guanwu National Forest Recreation Area, which offers people the most abundant misty forest experience in the Miaoli and Hsinchu border area. Located two hours from Zhudong, Guanwu, which means "higher mountain ridge" in the Atayal language, was a logging site in 1940 and ceased operations in 1980, leaving behind a mountain of neatly planted trees. The five magnificent red cypress trees on the Cypress Forest Trail tell visitors about the grandeur of Taiwan's forests in the past. The wildlife in Guanwu is a sight to behold, with the emperor pheasant and serow roaming the forest trails, as well as the unique Begonia fenicis, and two endemic species, the Broad-tailed Swallowtail butterfly and the Guanwu Newt. The Dabajianshan Trail, which connects to the outside of the park, branches out here, with the eastern line leading to Dabajianshan and the western line leading to the park's highest point, Zhen Mountain, offering a picturesque view of the Snow Mountain range's Holy Ridge.
