Dasyueshan National Forest Recreation Area. Autumn's maple leaves, summer nights' starry sky, late afternoon's sea of clouds, serows and Swinhoe's pheasants roaming through the forest trails, and the only affordable giant red cypress in Greater Taichung - Snow Mountain. The vibrant red of the maple trees in autumn, the starry night sky in summer, the sea of clouds at dusk, the serows and Swinhoe's pheasants roaming through the forest trails, and the majestic red cypress tree, the Snow Mountain Divine Tree, which is the only one in the greater Taichung area that is accessible to the public, are the most enchanting impressions of the Snow Mountain National Forest Recreation Area. This area was once a thriving forest in 1958, which brought prosperity to Dongshi and Fengyuan. Today, this mountain city, just an hour's drive from Dongshi, has been transformed into a forest recreation area, continuing to bring the blessings of nature to the people of central Taiwan. With an elevation of over 2,000 meters, the climate is cool and pleasant. The area around the Small Divine Tree Trail and the Wood Horse Trail still retains its original flat cypress forest, which is one of the most beautiful scenery in the recreation area. The 50-meter-tall Snow Mountain Divine Tree, located in the deepest part of the recreation area, was once the 11th largest tree in Taiwan. The wildlife in Snow Mountain is its greatest treasure: serows, long-haired goats, and white-faced flying squirrels are active at night, while Swinhoe's pheasants, blue-bellied rollers, and golden parrotbills are among the many birds that can be seen during the day. Visitors can enjoy the tranquility of forest bathing while strolling through the forest, and may even encounter these little stars by chance.
