Located behind the Wanda Reservoir, at an elevation of 1,100 to 2,600 meters, this area was originally home to the Atayal and Seediq tribes. During the Japanese era, hydroelectric power construction began, and it wasn't until 1994 that it became a national forest recreation area. In the Atayal language, "Wan" means deep or entering, so Wonda means "deep into Wanda". The area's maple leaves are the most famous in the country, but within the park, the ever-changing seasons continuously present a colorful and romantic landscape. However, the fame of the maple leaves seems to have overshadowed the beauty of Wonda's four seasons. The four seasons are Wonda's natural beauty, with winter maple, spring cherry blossoms, summer waterfalls, and autumn moons quietly replacing each other in this comfortable valley.
