The Da Nong Da Fu Flatland Forest Park is located in Guangfu Township, Hualien County, situated in the East Rift Valley, with the Central Mountain Range and Coastal Mountain Range on either side. Heading south along the valley, around the middle section, after passing the Hualien Sugar Factory chimney, a vast expanse of continuous forest comes into view. The outer areas of the forest have a history written by multiple ethnic groups. Taiwan is a beautiful island with forests everywhere, but centuries of development have caused the original forests to retreat from the plains. Starting in the 21st century, the Forestry Bureau and the National Conservation Agency actively promoted flatland afforestation, and after ten years of tree-planting, the people of Hualien have the country's first flatland forest, the Da Nong Da Fu Flatland Forest Park. Located between the Central Mountain Range and the Coastal Mountain Range, the 1,250-hectare park is equivalent to 48 Da'an Forest Parks and can be said to be a true super carbon-absorbing and oxygen-producing machine. Nearly 20 species of low-altitude common trees, totaling over one million trees, have been planted here, which are not only visually pleasing but also useful and closely related to human life. They conserve the earth, supply the daily needs of humans and other animals, and their grandeur and colors are the most beautiful pages of the earth's poetry. The overall planning of the Da Nong Da Fu Flatland Forest Park combines surrounding agriculture, urban and rural culture, community development, and environmental education, creating a design that aligns with ecological, energy-saving, carbon-reducing, and health-oriented principles.
