During the Japanese era, there were three major state-run forestry stations: Alishan, Baxian Mountain, and Taipingshan Forest Recreation Area, with the latter being developed later. The Luodong Forestry Culture Park was the former site of the Luodong Branch Office and log pond during the Japanese rule. Since the termination of logging in Taipingshan in 1982, the area has been largely preserved in its original state. In 2004, the Forestry Bureau's Yilan Division planned to develop the area into a forestry culture park, which, after renovation, integrated the history of forestry, ecological sustainability, and design. In addition to restoring the former forestry culture, it also highlights the historical status of Taipingshan forestry and the development of Luodong Township.
