The predecessor of the Taiping Mountain Bop-Bop Train was the Taiping Mountain Forest Railway's Maohsing Line, which started at Taiping Mountain Villa and ended at Maohsing Station, with a total length of approximately 3 kilometers and a travel time of about 20 minutes. Under the shade of towering trees, sunlight filtered through, and the tracks wound their way through the forest, allowing passengers to sit in open carriages and get up close to the beautiful scenery along the way. The terminal Maohsing Station features a self-guided forest trail, a fern garden, and the Maohsing National Forest Trail.
