Nan'ao Ecological Education Center. The Nan'ao Ecological Education Center and the Nan'ao Workstation of the Forestry and Nature Conservation Agency, Yilan Branch are located in the same building. In 1997, the Nan'ao Workstation relocated here, organizing the existing camphor tree afforestation area into a native plant specimen garden, and establishing the Nan'ao Ecological Education Center on the side of the main office building to serve an educational purpose regarding Taiwan's forest resource utilization and ecological conservation. In addition to indoor exhibits, the outdoor native tree garden is also worth a visit. The plants in the native tree garden are planned according to the plant classification system, totaling 47 families and 120 species, primarily woody plants, supplemented by vines and herbaceous plants. It is an excellent location for outdoor field trips for elementary and middle schools in Yilan County, and even schools in the northern region. This center is adjacent to three important protected areas, including the "Wushibi Coast Nature Reserve," the "Nan'ao Broadleaf Forest Nature Reserve," and the "Guanyin Coast Important Wildlife Habitat." In its educational outreach efforts, the center also pays attention to the current status and challenges faced by the surrounding protected areas. In addition to serving as a local natural and cultural interpretation and education platform for the Nan'ao area, the center also allows visitors to learn about the protected areas within its scope, biodiversity, forest ecosystem management, ecotourism, community forestry, and various other ecological topics.
