Kuiyu Building, also known as Kuixing Tower by locals in Kinmen, or Kui Tower or Bagua Tower, is a temple dedicated to Kuixing, one of the Five Wenchang of China, and because Kinmen was not previously part of a county. Kuiyu Building, also known as Kuixing Tower or Bagua Tower, is a place of worship for Kuixing, one of the Five Wen Chang of China. As Kinmen was not previously part of a county, it was not allowed to build a Confucian temple, so in order to provide a place for locals to pray for good luck before taking the imperial examination, Lin Feizhang, a local scholar who had obtained the title of Gongsheng, donated a thousand taels of silver to build a tower in 1836, during the 16th year of the Daoguang Emperor's reign, at the top of Toushan Mountain in Houpu. The tower has been well-preserved for over 180 years, and after two renovations in 1955 and 1963, it still retains its original appearance, and has been designated as a county-level historic site.
