In the 15th year of the Guangxu reign of the Qing Dynasty (1889), in view of the external threats faced by the Su'ao area, the Qing court specially established two coastal defense forts here and built barracks to guard against French attacks. It was an important stronghold for the Su'ao garrison in resisting the French, holding profound historical significance.
