Cihu Mausoleum is famous for being the final resting place of the late Republic of China President Chiang Kai-shek. Cihu is divided into Former and Latter Cihu. The lake shores boast charming waters and weeping willows, creating a beautiful Jiangnan-style landscape. President Chiang named it Cihu because it resembled his hometown in Fenghua, Zhejiang, and out of longing for his mother. He also built a residence here (a Fujian-Zhejiang style building). Upon his death in 1975, he was interred here.
