It was originally an agricultural irrigation channel and is a semi-enclosed, wide body of water. Due to its limited exposure to the northeast monsoon and tides, the water surface is calm and safe, presenting a rare tranquil seascape. The riverbanks and the northern end feature naturally formed mangrove wetlands with diverse plants such as Kandelia obovata, Aegiceras corniculatum, Casuarina equisetifolia, and Ipomoea pes-caprae. Along the banks, wetland creatures like fiddler crabs and mudskippers can also be observed, making it a rare ecological highlight on the coast of Taoyuan.
