This route crosses the main ridge of Xiakaluo Mountain, exceeding an altitude of 2,000 meters. In early times, it was an important route for the Atayal people to visit relatives, hunt, and communicate. During the Japanese colonial era, for military control, the Japanese military and police widened the indigenous mountain paths into cross-ridge roads and established numerous police stations, leaving behind ruins and historical traces that can still be seen today, making this ancient trail not just a hiking path, but a living corridor of history.
