Xincheng Xinfeng Temple. Founded during the Daoguang era, it enshrines the Three Mountain Kings and has always been the spiritual center for the Xincheng, Baodou, and Shenjing areas within Baoshan Township. Xinfeng Temple is most lively during the birthdays of the Three Mountain Kings, which fall on the 25th of the 2nd, 5th, and 8th lunar months. Additionally, on the 14th and 15th of the first lunar month, a "Capon Competition" is held. At that time, residents bring their own raised chickens to compete, comparing whose chicken is the fattest, making it a major local event. In the past, with a lack of medical care and rampant epidemics, a procession for blessings led by Xinfeng Temple was held annually on the 14th and 15th of the first lunar month, hoping for a peaceful new year. This event was called "Da Zhong Wu" (hitting noon). Today, "Da Zhong Wu" carries the meaning of "empty time, good harvest." When the procession rests in the villages at noon, villagers spontaneously offer food for them to eat. Through the "Da Zhong Wu" event, it fosters a sense of unity and promotes the Hakka spirit of diligence, sharing, cherishing blessings, and dedication, making it an important event for the inheritance of Hakka culture.
