Located at the junction of Ximpu Township, Zhubei City, and Qionglin Township in Hsinchu County, the "Wenshan Trail" was formerly a small path used by farmers to pick tea. Today, it has transformed into an accessible trail that combines unique geological features with historical memories. The trail is named after Liutoushan (Plough Head Mountain) because its shape resembles an ancient farming tool, a "plough head." It also has other names such as "Duanlonghan" (Severed Dragon's Jaw) and "Zhanshan" (Cutting Mountain), alluding to its steep and peculiar terrain. The entire Wenshan Trail is lush with dense forest, providing a cool and comfortable experience even in summer. The ridge section offers expansive views, allowing one to see the Zhubei Plain, Liujia HSR Station, and the elevated railway winding along the mountainside. One can also gaze at the magnificent, continuous mountain ranges of Jianshi and Wufeng in the distance. This is not only an excellent route for hikers to appreciate natural beauty but also the best practical teaching material for understanding Hsinchu's topographical changes. Along the trail, old tea trees can still be seen in the forest, bearing witness to the prosperous agricultural era of tea production. Some sections of the trail, formerly known as the famous "Yuetaowo Ancient Trail," were once essential routes for merchants and travelers. With the decline of agriculture, these paths gradually became quiet, forming today's serene and historically rich hiking trail. The Wenshan Trail is low in difficulty and well-maintained, suitable for families, making it an excellent hike that combines natural healing, geographical education, and local history.
