The origin of the place name comes from the fact that the settlement was located upstream of the Xinzhuanzi Canal, making it difficult to draw water. After the barren land was cultivated, only beans could be grown, hence the name "Douzibu." Due to the difficulty of farming, many residents were fishermen. When they first crossed the sea to Taiwan, the early settlers brought with them the incense of Mazu, the guardian deity of seafaring, to pray for peace and protection for the community. At that time, the Qing Dynasty imposed strict maritime prohibitions, and whether by smuggling or legal immigration, people could not bring their families, which caused great unrest. Fortunately, Mazu's benevolent power was magnificent and her blessings were widespread, providing spiritual sustenance for the early settlers. For over a hundred years, during the Lantern Festival, devotees have found a place to erect a temporary shelter and hold a three-offering ritual for peace and blessings to express their gratitude for Mazu's grace.
