Located at an altitude of about 1600 meters, it offers different scenery in all four seasons, making it a beautiful deep mountain settlement that combines natural landscapes with Atayal culture. Starting from the tribe, follow the trail into the primeval forest, and you will reach the breathtaking sacred tree group ecological area in about two hours. The towering red cypress giant trees, some of which are over a thousand years old, are majestic and imposing, representing one of the few areas in Taiwan that still retains its original forest landscape. Along the hike, you can enjoy streams, mountain mists, native plants, and the sounds of birds and insects, offering a spiritual and physical cleansing. Moreover, every spring (around February-March), over 2,000 cherry trees in the tribe bloom successively, transforming Smai-kusi into a high-mountain secret realm for cherry blossom viewing. The pink and white cherry blossoms intertwined with the tribe's ancient wooden buildings create a fairytale-like romantic scene, becoming a stunning photo spot for photography enthusiasts and travelers. After electricity was supplied in 1975 and the Tribal Development Association was established in 1995, the local Atayal people have worked together to build churches, cultural classrooms, and guesthouses, while preserving their indigenous cultural spirit and respect for the land.
