The main structure is a reinforced concrete building elevated on a small hill. Vertical lines on the facade accentuate the sacredness and grandeur of the church. Beneath the main entrance platform, between two sets of stairs, a niche-like space is cleverly designed to house a statue of the Virgin Mary, forming the focal point of the church. As the old street declined, the Catholic Church also fell into disrepair for a period. Through the efforts of many parties, the church agreed to change the use of the Old Hukou Catholic Church and renovate it for reuse. In addition to the main building, the priest's residence has been converted into a community center. The Old Hukou Catholic Church will also be more integrated with the areas of Old Hukou and the old street.
