If you spread out a map of Hsinchu County, you'll find there are three "Bird Beak Mountains" within its borders. To distinguish them, hikers refer to the Bird Beak Mountain in Guanxi Township as "Wai Niao Zui Shan" (Outer Bird Beak Mountain), the Bird Beak Mountain in Jianshi Township as "Nei Niao Zui Shan" (Inner Bird Beak Mountain), and the Bird Beak Mountain in Wufeng Township retains its original name. Compared to its similarly named counterparts, Wai Niao Zui Shan, located in Guanxi Township, is relatively lower, with an elevation of only 1,350 meters. The mountain ridge has gentle undulations, and the path is relatively flat, making it more accessible and a forest secret suitable for all ages. Wai Niao Zui Shan has multiple trailheads. You can start from the Shuitian Forest Road, but the journey is longer and will add an extra hour of walking. If you purchase a ticket to enter from "Mawudu Exploration Forest," you can complete the hike in about 4 hours. This not only saves time but also offers more beautiful scenery along the way. Starting from Mawudu, you'll reach a fork in the path on the ridge. Turning right leads to Mawudu Mountain and Shuitian Forest Road, while turning left leads to Wai Niao Zui Shan and Najie Mountain. Along the way, you'll pass by Rainbow Bridge Waterfall and Mawudu Waterfall. These two gentle, picturesque waterfalls offer a refreshing and cooling experience during summer hikes. Ascending from the small path next to Mawudu Waterfall, you transition from the park's trails to a traditional mountain path. Upon reaching the cliffside ridge, there is an open platform offering panoramic views of the beautiful mountain scenery of Guanxi. At the summit of Wai Niao Zui Shan, you'll find a large rock face.
