Zhenxibao, the highest mountain indigenous village in Taiwan, is a sacred land where the Atayal people say the first ray of dawn shines the earliest. It boasts the largest primeval cypress forest area in Taiwan, covering an expansive 50 square kilometers. The giant tree area is awe-inspiring, with towering trees blocking out the sky. Wisps of clouds often drift by, and light mist veils the dense forest, creating a sense of being in a secluded paradise, an ultimate primitive beauty. Within the village stands a stone church, built over many years by the villagers using stones from the Xiuluan River and white marble. The rectangular building, with its yellow roof and interspersed blue and white colors, features carvings of tribal totems and stories on its walls. It serves as a place of faith and a tranquil, self-contained cultural landscape in the mountains.
