Tongde Hall, Zhubei. Donghai Village in Zhubei was originally called Donghai Cave. Before the flood control project on the Touqian River, the river branched out and formed a large pond and cave southwest of 'Donghai'. Donghai Village in Zhubei was originally called Donghai Cave. Before the flood control project on the Touqian River, the river branched out and formed a large pond and cave southwest of 'Donghai'. The pond was vast and abundant, resembling the sea. Liujia had a larger population at the time as it was the grassroots administrative center. This pond was located to the east of Liujia, hence the locals called it 'Donghai Cave', and it was thus named. Developed around the Qianlong period, the Zheng family ancestors originally from Raoping, Guangdong, developed in the Zhubei and Qionglin Xiashan areas after coming to Taiwan, and established their ancestral shrine in Qionglin Xiashan. Xingyang Hall was built around the first year of the Taisho era. The Zheng family ancestors operated a rice mill and were a prominent local clan. With their economic means, they built a residence with one hall and four wings. The materials and construction methods used were meticulous, making it a representative mansion in the area.
