Dahukou Public School Ruins. Dahukou Public School was founded in 1906 (Meiji 39), it was the only school in the Hukou and Xinfeng districts at the time, and also the cradle of talent enlightenment for the Hukou and Xinfeng districts. The current Xinhua Elementary School, Hukou Elementary School, Xinfeng Elementary School, and Fenggang Elementary School all originated from it and became independent, so it can be said to have many descendants. Unfortunately, when the school was abolished in 1935 (Showa 10), the school buildings were not properly preserved. After decades of wind and frost damage, the former appearance of the school buildings was completely lost. Fortunately, two brick pillars of the school gate still stand firm, serving as a witness to history. Mr. Chen Senmao and others from the Hukou area, recognizing the importance of preserving historical sites, stepped forward and donated funds to purchase 47 ping of the original school base owned by 12 landowners. They also prepared to donate this land to the local government, hoping that through the joint efforts of the government and the private sector, the former appearance of Dahukou Public School can be recreated for future generations.
