Mount Dabajianshan. Mount Dabajianshan, at an elevation of 3492 meters, is part of the Xueshan Range and falls within the jurisdiction of Shei-Pa National Park. It is one of the endpoints of the Sacred Ridge and is renowned as the "Century's Most Peculiar Peak" due to its majestic and unique geological formation. It has been a sacred mountain for the Atayal and Saisiyat indigenous peoples since ancient times. Its prominent shape, with sheer cliffs on all sides, resembles a large wine barrel, earning it the nicknames "Ao Jiutong Shan" (Wine Barrel Mountain) or "Jiutong Shan." Together with Mount Zhongyangjian and Mount Dafen, it is known as one of the "Three Great Peaks of Taiwan." The journey begins from Guanshan, taking a vehicle along Dalulin Road for approximately 20 kilometers to the Malaxi trailhead. From the trailhead, the path to Mount Dabajianshan is about 10 kilometers, passing through Jiujiu Mountain Lodge at the 4-kilometer mark, and then continuing past Mount Jiali, the 3050-meter high ground, and Mount Yize. Completing the Mount Dabajianshan trek allows climbers to ascend three of Taiwan's 100 peaks. Combined with the fame of the Sacred Ridge and a relatively short climbing time, Dabajianshan has always been a popular high-mountain itinerary. Via the eastern section of Dalulin Road, one can drive directly to the trailhead. From the trailhead, the ascent to Jiujiu Mountain Lodge takes only about 4 hours. Most trekking groups complete the round trip in 3 days, and those with exceptional stamina can even finish the entire journey in 2 days. The trail is abundant with the tracks and droppings of wild animals, and the sounds of wildlife are constant, with a particularly high population of muntjacs and macaques. Occasionally, wild boars can also be spotted. Birdlife is also incredibly diverse, making it a truly immersive experience.
