The Xiuluan Battleship Rock Trail is a spectacular route that combines magnificent natural scenery with historical and cultural relics. The trail begins in the Yufeng Valley, where the confluence of the azure Yufeng River, Baishi River, and Taigang River is dominated by a magnificent giant rock – Battleship Rock. Its imposing appearance resembles a battleship about to set sail, making it a classic landmark in this landscape. Entering from Xiuluan Road and walking to the Battleship Rock Suspension Bridge, this is the best vantage point to admire Battleship Rock, offering a breathtaking view of the giant rock's majestic presence. For a closer experience, you can descend along the small path on the left side through the bamboo forest to get even closer to the grandeur of the giant rock. After crossing the suspension bridge, the trail turns into a historical exploration of the Tunye Battery ruins. Ascend the steep stone steps through the bamboo forest, gradually entering the original mountain path, embarking on a journey through time. This area was once an important garrison point during the Japanese colonial era, preserving the remnants of the Ayori detachment post, with a pavilion nearby for travelers to rest. The Tunye Battery ruins cover a vast area, with well-preserved facilities such as trenches, barracks foundations, and training grounds, bearing witness to the history of Japanese police monitoring the Atayal people in the Jianshi mountainous region.
