Thousands of sparkling little elves. April and May are the seasons for blooming tung blossoms and the peak season for fireflies, making it the best time to observe them. Thousands of sparkling little elves emerge in large numbers, flying leisurely among the bushes. The fireflies flitting and shining along the trails are like stars in the sky! Located near the Neiwan Old Street, the Dongwo Stream Firefly Ecological Area allows you to explore the old street in the afternoon and enjoy the spectacle of fireflies dancing in the sky at dusk. It's a great place for families, as you don't need to travel deep into the mountains. Thanks to the efforts of the Hsinchu County Hengshan Township Office in restoration and protection, the serene, light-pollution-free environment is ideal for fireflies. Within the mountainous area, you can see glowing black-winged fireflies and hear the chirping of insects. The peak time for fireflies each night is from 7 PM to 8 PM. They prefer warm and humid weather, so fireflies are more likely to be seen dancing on nights after rain.
