The trail is named 'Sancha Pi' because streams from three mountain peaks converge here. Walking along the trail, you'll see ancient red-brick houses, large cow walls, a century-old ancestral shrine, and a glutinous rice bridge, as if stepping into a time tunnel, experiencing the historical charm and natural beauty of Hsinchu's Hakka villages. Hakka Charm, Rustic Humanities The Sancha Pi Ancient Trail preserves many traditional Hakka buildings, such as red-brick walls, stone slab alleys, and large cow walls, which are traces of life in past Hakka settlements. In addition, there is a century-old ancestral shrine along the trail, which is the center of faith for the Hakka people to worship the Earth God. Villagers hold ceremonies here every year to pray for favorable weather. Another historical relic worth visiting is the glutinous rice bridge, which was built by mixing glutinous rice with lime to bond stones. It bears witness to the traditional skills of local craftsmen and has become a popular spot for travelers to take photos. Tung Blossoms Flutter, Fireflies Glow Every year from April to May, Sancha Pi Ancient Trail welcomes its most beautiful season – the blooming of tung blossoms. The entire trail is covered with snow-white tung blossoms, like a romantic white flower carpet, making visitors feel as if they are in a poetic painting.
