Longfeng Temple was officially established in the 16th year of the Daoguang reign of the Qing Dynasty (1836 AD). It enshrines the Heavenly Holy Mother and is a popular place of worship. Along with Zhonggang Ci Yu Temple, it is known as the "Inner and Outer Mazu." Ci Yu Temple is called the "Inner Mazu," while Longfeng Temple is the "Outer Mazu." The historic Longfeng Temple can be considered a treasure trove of a hall! The most striking feature of the temple's architecture is the magnificent Mazu statue, standing 136 feet tall, approximately 12 stories high. On a clear day, looking out from the top of the statue offers a view of the magnificent Taiwan Strait, with its ever-changing scenery. The richly colored decorative arts of *jiannian* (cut-and-paste pottery) and *jiaozhi* (Koxinga pottery), as well as the exquisite and skillful *zaojing* (coffered ceilings), ceilings, *dougong* (bracket sets), and stone carvings, push the art of temple architecture to its zenith! Longfeng Temple also houses many ancient plaques and artifacts over a hundred years old. Among these treasures are the "Qing Daoguang Period Stone Incense Burner," the "Great Ming Xuande Period Bronze Furnace," "Melon-shaped Medicine Slips," and the ancient well that is as old as the temple itself – Longquan Well – all of which are the temple's prized possessions, worthy of careful admiration.
