Originally named 'Bao Geng Keng' signal station, it was later renamed Shiliufen signal station. In the 24th year of the Republic of China (1935), it was renamed 'Shiliufen Station' and began passenger and freight services. The construction of the mountain line of the railway during the Japanese colonial era began in sections from ten years before the Republic of China. The Zhunan-Miaoli section was completed and opened on May 25th, nine years before the Republic of China. On October 17th of the same year, Miaoli-Sanyi was completed and opened. The following spring, the Sanyi-Bao Geng Keng section opened, but it was only used for transporting railway construction materials. Between Bao Geng Keng and Houli, due to the rugged mountainous terrain and rivers, construction was time-consuming. It was not until four years before the Republic of China that the entire mountain line was finally completed through arduous efforts. Shengxing was originally called Shiliufen. It is said that the Shengxing mountain area was once covered with camphor trees. During the land reclamation period, sixteen kilns were built to distill camphor, hence the name. After the retrocession of Taiwan, when Sanyi was established as a township, it was given its current name. Shengxing Station is located on a small plateau in a mountain valley. The entire building is constructed of wood, with no nails used in any of the pillars. Shengxing Station is surrounded by nine mountain peaks, giving it a very unique shape believed to ward off evil spirits. The arrangement of the station area is very ingenious, with various flowers and trees planted according to the terrain, creating a pleasing and picturesque view along the Taiwan railway line.
