In May 2003, the second phase of expansion was completed, adding spaces for wood carving education, exhibitions, collections, and a library. The unique architectural design won Taiwan's Architecture Award that year. With its rich collections and facilities, Sanyi Wood Sculpture Museum officially entered a new era, becoming an international professional wood carving museum. The exhibition spaces of Sanyi Wood Sculpture Museum include the first and second floors and the basement of the first building, as well as the second, third, and fourth floors of the second building. The exhibition themes cover nine parts: the origin of carving art, the styles of Chinese sculpture through the ages, Austronesian wood carving, the history of Sanyi wood carving, architecture and furniture, temples and religion, mixed media and contemporary art invitational exhibitions, and special wood carving art exhibitions. The beauty of wood carving is meticulously presented, providing visitors with a complete and perfect experience of the application and art of wood carving after their visit. The second floor exhibits the flourishing Sanyi wood carving industry in Taiwan, as well as wood carvings encountered in daily life, such as architecture, furniture, and carving tools.
