Located in the administrative center of Sanyi Township, Miaoli County, the hall officially opened on April 16, 2005. Since August 2009, it has been managed by the Biodiversity Research Center of Pingtung University of Science and Technology, commissioned by the Hsinchu Forest District Office of the Forestry Bureau. The aim is to combine the existing exhibition facilities with high-quality course planning to provide a teaching venue for the general public and schools of all levels on Taiwan's geological landscapes and forest ecology. It also serves as an intellectual attraction for tourists visiting the Miaoli area, thereby raising public awareness and encouraging active participation in conservation efforts to achieve the goal of sustainable environmental education.
