Every year, as autumn transitions to winter, the mountains are ablaze with red leaves, attracting a continuous stream of visitors. It is often referred to as the "Northern Ma (Mount Manapan) and Southern Ao (Aowanda)" for its stunning autumn colors. There are three routes to ascend Mount Manapan: the Dongxing Tianranhu Line, the Dongxing Shanghu Line, and the Dongxing Zhuhu Line.

The best section for viewing autumn foliage is between Shimen and the Ancient Battlefield Monument. You can walk along the curved path through a straight bamboo forest, pass through Tiandiaolong (Bat's Home), or take the Zhuhu Line, which preserves the most pristine original forest, all offering beautiful views of the red leaves. Shimen and the Ancient Battlefield bear witness to the heroic resistance of the Atayal people against the Japanese, recounting past history. Upon reaching the summit, you can see between Xueshan and Daba Mountain.
