In its early days, Gongxun Ceramics Company rented and renovated a disused traditional Taiwanese house (Sanheyuan) into a workshop. Initially, it entered the ceramics industry by undertaking OEM production for other major manufacturers, handling firing, renovation, slip casting, painting, and even shipping for other factories, a process that lasted at least two years. Later, it gradually began to accept orders independently. During busy periods, it also assisted other small processing plants by forming alliances and subcontracting some orders. With economic development, the scale of operations gradually expanded. In the 1980s, as order volumes increased, the small workshop became insufficient. Thus, a factory building was purchased (the current location). The new factory transitioned from manual slip casting to automatic slip casting, and the traditional four-chamber kiln (shuttle kiln) was replaced with a tunnel kiln. Currently, Gongxun Ceramics Company, under the leadership of General Manager Xu Yonghuan, driven by a passion for his hometown and the philosophy of staying rooted in Taiwan, has established "Wugu Cultural Village" for the sustainable development of the industry and to showcase Miaoli's decorative ceramics culture and production interdependence. It combines leisure tourism and cultural heritage, integrating "tradition," "modernity," and "decorative ceramics art" to become a landmark and a tourist gateway for Miaoli. In the future, it will actively invest to meet future tourism demands by integrating Miaoli's "decorative ceramic art," "Hakka cultural landscape," and the "spirit of Wugu" with its cultural and historical background, moving towards product refinement.
