Tongxiao Arakawa Art Museum was founded in 1966, formerly known as Dongfang Wood Carving Art Creation Society. It was renamed Arakawa Art Museum in 1969 and is a time-honored wood carving factory in Tongxiao. It witnessed the prosperous wood carving industry in Tongxiao in the 1960s and is one of the few wood carving factories still operating today. Arakawa Art Museum established an art center in 1994, introducing traditional Chinese large-scale carpentry and carving techniques, displaying Buddhist wood carvings, root carvings, openwork carvings, and daily life wood crafts. Combined with on-site wood carving demonstrations and DIY carving activities, it has become a well-known local cultural and artistic attraction. In the wood carving exhibition area, there are solemn Buddhist statues and many daily life craft works with exquisite carvings that are eye-opening. The factory production area preserves complete production equipment, basic woodworking equipment, wood carving molds, and carving tools, offering a glimpse into the wood carving process. For those who want to try wood carving themselves, there is also a DIY area where you can carve pen holders, bookshelves, and the faces of the Five Gods of Wealth. It can be said that Arakawa Art Center has elevated a traditional wood carving factory into a Buddhist art center and a hall for cultural inheritance.
