Mingde Reservoir is a dam built by the Shitan River cutting through the Bajiaodong Mountain Range, forming a canyon. Surrounded by mountains with a vast expanse of water, the clear lake reflects the surrounding hills, creating a beautiful and verdant landscape, making it a famous tourist attraction in Miaoli. Located in the middle of Mingde Reservoir is Rixin Island, surrounded by water on all sides and accessible via Bridge No. 1 and Suspension Bridge No. 2. Walking on the suspension bridge offers a panoramic view of the lake and the beauty of the surrounding mountains and countryside. Especially when mist envelops the lake, the ethereal mountain scenery and the mirror-like lake resemble an ink wash painting. On one of the islands of Mingde Reservoir is also the famous century-old temple, Yongchun Temple. Built in 1847, Yongchun Temple was originally named "Haitang Temple" and was renamed "Yongchun Temple" in 1860. The platform in front of the temple offers a view of the Minghu Sudi (causeway), and walking along the path beside the temple leads to the Minghu Sudi Trail, approximately 400 meters long. The trail is lined with diverse plant life, such as metasequoias, weeping willows, and Japanese cherry blossoms, making it a scenic spot that often attracts visitors spending their afternoons here.
