Lingdong Temple boasts magnificent, gilded architecture with intricately carved beams and painted rafters. Xianshan is located at the border of Shitan and Nanzhuang Townships, with an altitude of 967 meters. Its original name was [Hongmaoguan Mountain]. Due to a legend of a mountain spring within the mountain that could cure all illnesses, known as [Xianshui] (Immortal Water), [Hongmaoguan Mountain] was renamed [Xianshan] (Immortal Mountain). Lingdong Temple is situated on the mountainside of Xianshan, divided into upper and lower levels. The upper level is dedicated to the Jade Emperor, while the lower level enshrines the Great Emperor of Dongyue and various deities of the Three Teachings. Xianshui is located next to Xieling Temple behind Lingdong Temple. Ascending a small set of stairs from beside Xieling Temple leads to a small pavilion where one can collect [Xianshui]. The trailhead for Xianshan is to the left of Xieling Temple; a half-hour walk will take you to the summit. Xianshan, at nearly a thousand meters in altitude, stands tall among mountains such as Hongweishan and Bagualing, renowned far and wide for the healing properties of Xianshui. There are many legends about the efficacy of Xianshui from Xianshan, and Lingdong Temple on Xianshan is also elegant, perpetually shrouded in a light mist. Clouds and fog often drift through the mountains, creating an ethereal, otherworldly atmosphere. Lingdong Temple is a palace-style temple complex located within the mountains of Xianshan, surrounded year-round by mist, offering a scenic view of auspicious earthly energy and feng shui.
