Penglai Stream is located in the southwest of Nanzhuang, and it is the upper reaches of Zhonggang Creek. Because it is located in the mountains and wilderness, the peaks on both sides of the stream are steep, and the surrounding area is a mixture of sweetgum forests and natural mixed forests, which are lush and towering, with mountains and rivers intertwined. Immersed in it, you can sometimes hear the dialogue between the forest and the mountain wind, and sometimes hear the singing of the stream and the fish. The natural scenery created by nature makes people unconsciously cast aside all their stress, their restless minds settle down, and the noisy sounds disappear. Here, you just want to take a deeeeep breath, touch the cool stream water, and watch the graceful figures of "Kuhua" fish. Walking through the forest, crossing the stream, and then returning home with phytoncides and full of energy. Looking at the clear stream in front of you, with schools of fish, you must not believe that fish once disappeared here; the beautiful appearance today is the result of the hard work of the people of Nanzhuang. A group of local people who loved their hometown at the time, feeling that the stream ecosystem was being destroyed, spontaneously formed the "Penglai Stream Neighborhood Watch Fish Conservation Patrol Team" to patrol the stream, reminding and persuading tourists active in the stream to reduce the pressure on the stream ecosystem, hoping to restore the stream to its original appearance. The Miaoli County Government also announced in 2001 the closure of the middle and upper reaches of Penglai Stream in Nanzhuang Township for fish conservation, completely prohibiting any fishing or angling activities within the fish conservation section, making it the first section in Miaoli County to implement fish conservation.
