Xianshan Hiking Trail. Xianshan is located on the east side of Shitan Township, Miaoli County, with an elevation of 967 meters. Its fame far surpasses that of Baguashan Mountain, the main peak of the Baguashan Mountain Range. Xianshan was originally named Hongmaoguan Mountain, named after its proximity to Penglai Village (formerly known as Hongmaoguan) in Nanzhuang Township. Xianshan's reputation in Miaoli is no less than that of Lion's Head Mountain, and many Miaoli residents have visited Xianshan, located in Xindian Village, Shitan Township, Miaoli County. The journey to Xianshan begins from the red archway of Lingdong Temple at the foot of the mountain. The mountain road from the archway to Lingdong Temple halfway up the mountain is six kilometers long. Xianshan's peaks are tall and straight, rising above the plains, appearing like a pillar reaching the sky from afar. The winding road ascends, flanked by lush green grass, with seas of clouds swirling above, creating a feeling of 'mountains in the ethereal mist.' Xianshan's fame stems from its sweet and cool mountain spring water, which has a legendary story. Over sixty years ago, someone drank the spring water from Xianshan and found it had healing properties. The wet mud from the area, when applied to wounds, also had therapeutic effects, leading people to believe that miracles occurred on the mountain, hence its name, Xianshan. Currently, it is crowded with visitors on holidays, with incense burning fervently. People come to fetch the immortal water, seek divine guidance, or hike, in an endless stream.
