Zheng Han Trail. Zheng Han Trail is located next to Provincial Highway 1 in Tanwen Village, Zaoqiao Township. The round trip is about two kilometers, with both uphill and downhill sections. Although it cannot be called a "Heroic Slope," the trail is rich in flora and fauna, with camphor trees, casuarina trees, and melastoma, and the wooden steps add a sense of antiquity. The "Zheng Han Monument" on the mountaintop recounts a moving story: In 1964, a young man in his twenties named Zheng Han from Tanwen Village was farming in the fields when a group of children playing by the Zhonggang River fell into a rapid current and were about to drown. Hearing their cries for help, Zheng Han bravely jumped into the river to save the children, but his leg was cut by barbed wire from a dam, preventing him from reaching the shore, and he drowned. To honor Zheng Han's selfless act of saving others, the then Minister of Education, Yan Zhenxing, erected a monument on the mountain with the best view in 1965, inscribing it with words like "One drowns, I drown too," which have been passed down to this day. From the monument, one can overlook the Zhonggang River plain and the Taiwan Strait. The excellent view is its best selling point, and since the opening of Zheng Han Trail, more and more people have been visiting on weekends for walks and exercise.
