Tongxiao Shrine. Japanese colonial era ruins ~ historically significant Japanese-style architecture. Japanese colonial era ruins ~ historically significant Japanese-style architecture. Tongxiao Shrine, with its strong Japanese shrine atmosphere, is located within Hutou Mountain Park. It is full of Japanese flavor and was built in 1937. Currently, only the main hall foundation, the heiden ruins, the sacred path, the worship hall, the torii gate, and the shrine office remain. Although the altitude on the mountain is less than 100 meters, the wide view overlooks the streets of Tongxiao. Ascending along the long path, step by step, is quite atmospheric. Tongxiao Shrine is located on Hutou Mountain in Tongxiao. Over the years, it has endured the ravages of wind and rain, and its exterior appearance was almost in ruins. Recently, it has been completely renovated by the Miaoli County Cultural Affairs Bureau, and the shrine's appearance is almost identical to its original complete state, even enhanced. The township office even held a completion ceremony for "Miaoli County Historic Building - The Re-emergence of Tongxiao Shrine's New Look" in front of the shrine on June 19, 2005, celebrating with a series of lively activities.
