Zhuolan is located in the southern part of Miaoli. Due to its favorable natural environment in the early days, it became a fruit-producing region, famous for its grapes, star fruit, citrus, and pears, which are known for their sweetness and high quality throughout Taiwan. However, this town with a population of over 20,000 lacked a suitable space for cultural performances. Coupled with societal changes and a gradual outflow of population, local culture faced the crisis of decline. In 1995, the Council for Cultural Affairs provided a budget for enriching local performance facilities. With the cooperation of the township office, the "Zhuolan Art and Culture Center" was established in the Hongdao Hall of the National Zhuolan Experimental Senior High School. It includes a performance hall that can accommodate 200 spectators and an exhibition hall. Although this art and culture center is not large, its performance facilities are comprehensive, providing a stage for local residents to perform freely. Furthermore, outstanding artists from various regions are often invited to perform, making this two-story art and culture center a venue for diverse events such as dance, drama, photography, music, and crafts, immersing the residents of Zhuolan Township in the influence of artistic activities.
