"Qingqian Di" is located in Maizipu, Wuhu Village, Xihu Township, north of "Miaoli 119" highway. It is the old home of Mr. Zhang Qingshiu, the ninth mayor of Xihu Township. "Qingqian Di" was first built during the Tongzhi period of the Qing Dynasty, and has a history of over a hundred years. It has undergone several renovations, with the most recent one around 1954. From the outside, it looks like a spacious brick three-sided courtyard building. However, upon closer inspection, its layout, beams and pillars, and shrine have a unique style compared to ordinary traditional Hakka residences. The entire structure of the house is in the shape of the character "chang" (昌), symbolizing the prosperity and flourishing of the family, and is divided into a main hall, left and right wing rooms, and two courtyards. Above the main entrance of the main hall are the three large characters "Qingqian Di", and on either side stand two ancient and elegant stone pillars. The dougong (bracket sets) and beams on the pillars are intricately carved, exuding an ancient charm. "Qingqian Di" has a magnificent layout, surrounded by lush green forests and tall bamboo, creating an elegant atmosphere. Immersing oneself in it easily evokes a sense of nostalgia for the past. It is indeed an old house worth preserving.
