Dongli Family Style - Century-Old House. Yuanli Township was originally the habitat of the Taoas indigenous people (also known as Pingpu indigenous people). Before the Qing Dynasty, four Taoas communities, namely Fangli, Yuanli, Maoyu, and Ribai, resided here. In the area of Zhonggouwei (western end of the Zhonggou area), with its flat and vast terrain, the "Zhonggou Zheng Family Settlement" was built under the guidance of a geomancer. The entire architectural layout of the "Zhonggou Zheng Family Settlement" faces south, with mountains to the north (rear) and a stream to the south (front). To the right is the "Old Zheng House," in the center is the grand three-section courtyard of "Dongli Family Style," and to the left is the Japanese-style ancient building "Zheng Residence." These structures are connected from east to west, forming a magnificent super settlement. The "Dongli Family Style" three-section courtyard, with its ancient house exterior, is a rare and well-preserved red brick and glazed tile building in Taiwan. Under the government's guidance for renovation and protection, it showcases exquisite and solid traditional Chinese architectural craftsmanship, revealing the original architectural art style. The century-old cypress tree in front of the courtyard, combined with the complete three-section main building and the four surrounding wing rooms (hsiang-fang), has become a distinctive homestay area, attracting various television stations to film here. It is also one of the important tourist attractions in Yuanli Township.
