It was once a hunting and logging area for the Saisiyat people and is now part of the Forestry Bureau's Nanzhuang Management Area, Compartment 32. The Guangtian Highland hiking trail boasts intact forest scenery, with dense shade and excellent views from the ridgeline, offering panoramic vistas of nearby settlements and rolling mountain peaks. Visitors can also combine their hike with visits to Xiangtian Lake and the Miaoli County Saisiyat Folk Museum to admire the lake's reflections and mountain mists, enjoy leisurely tea by the lake, and stroll along the lakeside path to learn about Saisiyat culture. The trail is very popular among hikers. Starting from the trailhead, purple-flowered Mexican aster blooms on both sides, forming a sea of purple. The path winds through bamboo and fir forests, gradually ascending. At a fork, the left path leads to Xiangtianhu Mountain, and the right path leads to Guangtian Highland. Both paths are interconnected, forming a loop, allowing hikers to visit both Guangtian Highland and Xiangtianhu Mountain by following the signs and trail markers. Taking the right path towards Guangtian Highland, there is a high platform on the left side of the ridgeline, which is an excellent vantage point for viewing Xiangtianhu Village, with Mount Egongji, Luailiao, and Xiangtian Lake clearly visible. The trail is lined with dense trees, with towering fir trees reaching towards the sky. Sunlight filters through, inviting visitors to pause and admire the scenery. Continuing past large rocks, the path climbs uphill, with various ferns and flowers flourishing beneath the trees. Before long, you reach the summit.
