Gu Yue Folk Museum was built in the first lunar month of the Jia Shen year (January 2004) on the site of the Tianhou Temple, which was demolished after being bombed during World War II. The construction took two years and was completed in the fifth lunar month of the Bing Xu year (May 2006). The museum aims to pass on traditional Taiwanese culture through a cleverly planned, small-scale investment that maximizes its limited space with unlimited exhibits.
