Founded in the 28th year of the Qianlong reign of the Qing Dynasty (1763 AD) by fundraising from immigrants from Quanzhou Prefecture, Fujian Province, hence the large plaque "Wenling Fudi" (A Blessed Land of Quanzhou) hangs above the main gate. It underwent major renovations during the Guangxu reign of the Qing Dynasty, and the current Yuanching Temple represents the architectural standards of that period.
