It was built in the 22nd year of the Jiaqing reign of the Qing Dynasty (1817 AD) by the esteemed Qi Jiu Jin Gong, a resident of Tong'an County, who crossed the strait to Taiwan. The horizontal plaque in the temple reads 'Yintong Yi Miao', which is a beautiful name for Tong'an County. Baosheng Dadi, whose name was Wu Zhen or True Man Wu, is popularly known as Dadao Gong. He was from Baijiao, Tong'an during the Song Dynasty, and is said to have had many miraculous cures, leading to him being revered as the God of Medicine by the common people.
