Historical Overview: Changhua Guandi Temple is a county-designated historic site, founded in the 13th year of the Yongzheng reign (1735 AD) by Changhua Magistrate Qin Shi-wang. The original site was within the south gate of the county. In the 51st year of the Qianlong reign, Lin Shuang-wen led an uprising against the Qing dynasty, and many temples and government offices within the city were destroyed by the war. After the official suppression of the rebellion, in the 5th year of the Jiaqing reign (1800 AD), Magistrate Hu Ying-kui, along with scholars Zheng Shi-mo and Wu Dong-sheng, advocated for its relocation to the current site.
