Xing'an Temple. Xing'an Temple, commonly known as 'Xinghua Mazu Temple', is one of the oldest Mazu temples in Lukang. Xing'an Temple, commonly known as 'Xinghua Mazu Temple', is one of the oldest Mazu temples in Lukang. In the 23rd year of Kangxi (1684 AD), immigrants from Xinghua Prefecture, Fujian Province, brought Mazu incense fire to Taiwan and built a temple in the Caozi area of Lukang. The temple was named 'Xing'an Temple', meaning 'Xinghua peace' and 'Xinghua tranquility'. Xing'an Temple is one of the 'people's temples' in Lukang. 'People's temples' refer to temples jointly built by immigrants from a certain region of their original homeland in China when they migrated to Taiwan, and they also served as 'hometown associations'. Xing'an Temple was originally a temple for the worship of Xinghua people, so the number of worshippers was limited, and the temple was not rebuilt, thus preserving its original layout. On November 8, 1848 AD, the 28th year of Daoguang, an earthquake occurred in Changhua, and Xing'an Temple was damaged. In the 2nd year of Xianfeng (1852 AD), nine directors, including Xu Xilin, Zhou Wenquan, Su Daisheng, and Xiao Rixin, all from Xinghua, initiated a reconstruction, which laid the foundation for the temple's current layout.
