"Wenchang Emperor Temple" was founded in the 12th year of Jiaqing in the Qing Dynasty (1807 AD). It was the local school in the past. In the early days, it housed the "Xingxian Society" for scholars in the Yuanlin area to gather and socialize, fostering a spirit of diligence and camaraderie. The academy features a double-courtyard architectural layout, with simple spaces for teaching and living. The structure includes a main hall, rear hall, side rooms, flower hall, and a pavilion for honoring sacred texts. The main hall's framework is simple and unadorned, featuring a rare double-connected gable roof truss. An important artifact in the academy is the imperial pathway stone, also known as the "dragon steps." The dragon steps are exquisitely carved from granite with cloud and dragon patterns, exuding a spiritual quality amidst their rustic simplicity, with a style that is ancient yet refined.
