Beidou Dian'an Temple. Beidou Dian'an Temple, along with Changhua Nanyao Temple and Lukang Tianhou Temple, are known as the three major Mazu temples in Changhua County. Beidou Dian'an Temple, along with Changhua Nanyao Temple and Lukang Tianhou Temple, are known as the three major Mazu temples in Changhua County. The predecessor of Dian'an Temple was the Tianhou Temple of Dongluo Street (originally located in Jioumei Village, Xizhou Township), founded during the Kangxi period, making it the oldest Mazu temple in southern Changhua. However, due to floods and wars in the 11th year of Jiaqing (1806), Dongluo Street was ruined, and residents largely migrated to 'Baodou' to rebuild the Tianhou Temple, with the intention of 'establishing their residence and settling the people.' The 'Tianhou Temple' was then renamed 'Dian'an Temple.' During the Qing Dynasty, Beidou Street was the most prosperous market in the southern Changhua region, and Dian'an Temple developed a considerable joint-village faith circle, encompassing present-day Beidou Township and parts of Xizhou, Tianwei, and Pitou, with its influence extending to Tianzhong Township and Ershui Township. The old temple of Beidou Dian'an Temple was designated as a national third-class historic site in 1983. However, due to disrepair and the need to construct the front hall, it was relocated to Taiwan Folk Village, followed by the expansion of the front hall. The temple's consecration ceremony was held in 2003. The temple houses five Qing Dynasty soft-bodied Mazu statues and a thousand-year-old red cypress Guanyin Buddha, which are important historical artifacts.
