In October of the 52nd year of Qianlong's reign (1787 AD), General Jiayong Gong Fuk'anggan led a strong army of over 100,000 troops to Lugang to quell the Lin Shuangwen rebellion. While the soldiers fought bravely, divine assistance was also credited. Funds were then allocated to build the temple. Construction began in December of that year, with the foundation laid and beams erected. It was completed in June of the following year, and the statue of the Heavenly Holy Mother was enshrined.
